HP er en skikkelig luremus.. Kan virke som de har kontrakter med microsoft (selv om de decliner) at de skal få folk til bare å bruke vista.
Samtale med en HP engineer på online live support:
Safford: Hello blindheim1.
Safford: Welcome to HP Total Care for Pavilion Notebooks.
My name is Safford. How may I assist you today?
Safford: How are you doing today?
blindheim1: hello
I talked to you guys yesterday.
I'm installing windows xp on my 9575eo notebook (currently running
vista home premium 32bit). The windows installation wouldn't find my harddrive,
so I contacted support. I was told to F10 - enter bios setup, choose the
"System Configuration" tab and disable the Native SATA support
Safford: Please go ahead with the query.
Safford: Alright.
blindheim1: that would make windows find the harddrive,
but the problem is my BIOS has no such function
Safford: Let me explain this.
blindheim1: nothing that would even look like it.
I'm running the Phoenix Bios v. F.09 (serial: cnf73065f3)
Safford: Alright.
Safford: Let me explain this.
Safford: As this series notebook models are especially designed for the
as this option is not available with the series.
As we have received many requests from the customers to get the option
to install Windows XP on the notebook, we have escalated this to our
research & development team & once this option is available this will
be notified to the customers having these series notebooks through email
& will be same be posted on the website.
blindheim1: so it is not possible? isn't that against the marketing
laws? I've bought an expensive surround system from creative that just
doesn't work with vista, and I
need to install xp.. I have made 2 partitions, and will
keep both. (they're both paid for, and I wish to use them. I still like
the vista mediasenter and will keep that OS aswell)
Safford: I can understand your concern.
blindheim1: is there no way to do this ?
Safford: Hp doesnot recommend installing retail OS in the note book and
this series notebook models are especially designed for the Windows Vista,
it is not advisable to install XP on this notebook model as this option is
not available with the series.
blindheim1: windows vista is at current stage a virus for gamers.
It drains about 700 ram from my world of warcraft, and decreases performance a lot.
Safford: Inorder to install retail OS need to disable SATA, this notebook
doesnot have the option to disable as this notebook doesnot support.
blindheim1: will there ever be a support?
Safford: Already we have forwarded this to our research department
and we need to wait till this option is updated for this notebook.
blindheim1: have HP made some sort of contract with microsoft,
trying to make more users turn to the vista platform ?
blindheim1: by declining them xp
blindheim1: since performance wise, vista will never be able to
match xp on notebooks with these specifications
Safford:blindheim1, I can understand how testing the situation couldb be.
There is no such contract with Microsoft. This notebook model only doesnot
support installing XP as this model is made for Vista.

"This notebook model only doesnot
support installing XP as this model is made for Vista." FFS !!! ???
