Interessant poeng vidarlo, men jeg har vanskelig for å se hvordan så mikroskopiske mengder olje skal kunne gjøre noen forskjell på pakningen. Bruker man en kremdispenser til det den er til vasker man den vel uansett fra gang til gang, og følgelig vasker man også pakningen (det er én stor o-ring på min dispenser).

Dessuten er det et hav av forskjell på BW-patronene og substansen på bildet jeg linket til i forrige post. Siterer en Erowid-rapport:

The notion of “safe food grade Nitrous Oxide” quickly turned into horror as the taste became clearly toxic-chemical with a metallic hint. First thoughts were that those cartridges might contain Nitrogen Oxides other then N2O. This was quickly discounted after a quick online conversation with a chemist, as they are very toxic in small amounts and have vivid colors unlike Nitrous Oxide. Color of the gas expelled from cartridges was examined. Nitrous is a colorless gas, so nothing should be visible, however a fine vapor like mist was observed escaping from the opened whippets. Next step was to collect enough of the impurity to be able to examine it.

A large amount of cartridges was opened in such a fashion, that the gas passed via a filter. After opening about 20 whippets a substantial amount of black oil-like residue was collected. After sensory examination, the smell and texture of this residue was determined to be very similar to machining coolant sludge, which fits with how cartridges are manufactured. It appears that the coolant residue is vaporized upon opening the whippet and is most likely to be inhaled in large quantities. Of course this theory would have to be tested by professional lab analysis, but it seems like EZ Whip brand cartridges can contain various degrees of impurities that are result of poor manufacturing hygiene. It is likely they are not thoroughly cleaned off after manufacture of casings. Coolants used during metal machining are made with serious toxins, and they appear to be present in EZ Whip cartridges.

Hva som er grunnen til at det uansett finnes en fantastisk liten mengde olje e.l. i patronene aner jeg ikke, men siterer her et svar jeg fikk fra Best Whip for et års tid siden da jeg var i markedet for en dispenser:

They are pure N2O - if you want to call them 'medical grade' please do, although 8gm chargers have absolutely NO medical use.

BW-Chargers are filled with the highest quality N2O gas in a state of the art factory which is ISO 9001, NSF/ANSI 18 Certificated, and German TÜV-Mark Certified (ie our chargers are now as good as it gets!). This means that with BW-Chargers your cream will always shine white with no detectable oily residue. On the other hand MrCreamy chargers might give some detectable oily residue every now and then but most likely you wouldn't notice this slight colour shift of your cream. It will never contain more oily residue than what is allowed for groceries.

Actually it's incorrect to say that some chargers won't give any oily residue. It's just that with the highest grade charers (like BW-Chargers) the residue will never be detectable since they contain something like one hundredth of that nasty oily stuff compared to cheaper alternatives that don't conform all the standards.

Man skal selvfølgelig ta informasjon mottatt fra den man undersøker med en klype salt, men min erfaring støtter det han sier. McCreamy må dog være et bedre produkt enn EZ Whip og ISI som det refereres til ovenfor. Når jeg sammenligner EZ-rapporten og det nevnte bildet med min dispenser etter over 100 fyll blir det åpenbart at det må være langt mindre enn 1/100 i BW-patronene sammenlignet med EZ og ISI.

Nå føler jeg at jeg ikke kommer så mye lenger uten eksperthjelp. En vill gjetning vil kanskje være at denne oljen eller hva det nå rett og slett er rester fra produksjonsprosessen, som aldri lar seg eliminere 100%. Tror ikke jeg vil spekulere videre, men at det ikke er noe som er tilsatt med vilje synes åpenbart fra mailen jeg mottok.

PS. Medisinsk lystgass er forresten heller ikke 100% ren (kilde), uten sammenligning for øvrig..
